Explore the rich birdlife of Sri Lanka on this immersive 10-day birding journey through rainforests, national parks, misty highlands, and wildlife reserves. From the endemic species of Kitulgala and Sinharaja Rainforest to the open landscapes of Yala National Park and the cool forests of Horton Plains, this tour offers excellent opportunities to spot rare and colorful birds along with other wildlife, including the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. The journey concludes with a cultural visit to Kandy before returning to Colombo.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 : COLOMBO - KITULGALA ( 99 km / 2 Hr 30 Min )

Arrive at Colombo International Airport and proceed to Kitulgala, As most of the International flights in the middle of the night.

DAY 2 : KITULGALA

Morning birding around Kitulgala forest & looking for ( Mostly Sri Lankan Endemics ) Srilankan Jungle Fowl, Srilankan grey hornbill, Orange-bellied babbler, Srilankan hanging parrot, Green-billed coucal,Legge’s flowerpecker, Spot-winged thrush, Silankan hill myna, Srilankan drongo, Yellow-fronted barbet, Chest-nut backed owlet,The newly discovered Serendib scops owl, Cey bay owl ect.

DAY 3 : KITULGALA

This morning & afternoon birding around the camp looking for leftover species .

DAY 4 : KITULGALA - SINHARAJA NATIONAL PARK ( 125 km / 3 Hr 39 Min )

After breakfast we will proceed to Sinharaja National Park. Afternoon birding around the national park looking for Brown capped babbler,Srilankan blue magpie,Srilankan scimitar babbler, Yellow-fronted barbet,Srilaknan Sprfowl, Spot-winged thrush,Legges hawk eagle,Serendib scops owl, ect.

DAY 5 : SINHARAJA NATIONAL PARK

2 hours of bird hide this morning, looking for Brown-capped babbler,Srilankna Spurfowl, Green-billed coucal,Sport- wings thrush,etc & birding at Sinharaja National Park. Red-faced Malkoha,Serendib scops owl,Ashy-headed babbler, Srilankan white- headed starling etc .

DAY 6 : SINHARAJA - YALA NATIONAL PARK ( 131 km / 3 hr 16 min )

After breakfast we will proceed to Yala National Park. Afternoon 2.30 pm to 7.00 pm Safari.Yala is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. Spot-billed pelican,Asian openbill,Sri Lankan junglefowl,Srilaknan grey hornbill, Malabar pied hornbill,Crimson-fronted barbet etc. Yala is the best place for leoprds.

DAy 7 : YALA NATIONAL PARK - NUWARA ELIYA ( 112 km / 3 hr 10 min )

After the morning safari ( Yala National Park), we'll proceed to Nuwara Eliya. From the dry zone, we climb up into the central massif, to Nuwara Eliya and the cool uplands of Horton Plains National Park. Where are we looking for such endemics as Sri Lankan wood pigeon, Crimson-backed flameback, Yellow-eared bulbul, Srilankan whistling thrush, Srilankan scaly thrush, Dull-blue flycatcher, etc

DAY 8 : NUEWARA ELIYA & HORTON PLAINS

Morning & afternoon birding at Horton Plains and Nuwara Eliya, looking for Sri Lankan bush warbler, Sri Lankan white-eye, Pied thrush, Kashmir flycatcher, Indian Pitta, etc. Afternoon birding at Victoria Park for leftover species.

DAY 9 : NUWARA ELIYA - KANDY ( 95 km / 3 hrs )

Today, we will visit ancient Kandy before the time comes for us to leave this fascinating, beautiful part of the world.

DAY 10 : KANDY - COLOMBO AIRPORT (113 km / 2 hr 45 min )

After the morning breakfast, we will proceed to Colombo International Airport.
