Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Port Blair

Arrive at Port Blair by morning flight. Meet your guide and proceed for birding or check into your hotel. We will bird around Chidiya Tapu Reserve Forest, a tropical moist evergreen forest. Potential sightings include the Andaman Woodpecker, Andaman Wood-pigeon, Andaman Cuckoo-dove, Andaman Crake, Andaman Serpent-eagle, Andaman Coucal, Andaman Flowerpecker, Andaman Treepie, Andaman Drongo, Andaman Bulbul, Andaman Shama, Andaman White-headed Starling, and Andaman Green-pigeon. Other targets include the Black-naped Oriole, Orange-headed Thrush, Olive-backed Sunbird, Alexandrine Parakeet, Red-breasted Parakeet, Long-tailed Parakeet, Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker, Dollarbird, and Collared Kingfisher. Evening visit to Mount Harriet National Park for nocturnal species like the Andaman Scops-owl, Andaman Hawk-owl, Oriental Scops-owl (Andaman race), and Hume’s Boobook.

Day 2: Ferrargunj & Sippy Ghat

Morning drive to the Ferrargunj Forest Reserve. Look for the Andaman Teal, Andaman Drongo, Andaman Cuckooshrike, and Edible-nest Swiftlet, along with remaining endemics. Return to the hotel at noon. Afternoon visit to Sippy Ghat for waders, followed by night birding around Chidiya Tapu.

Day 3: Transfer to Great Nicobar

Board the ship for the transfer to Great Nicobar.

Day 4: Arrival in Nicobar

Reach Great Nicobar by late evening. Night birding around the guesthouse.

Days 5–8: Great Nicobar Birding

Four full days of birding around Great Nicobar targeting endemics and near-endemics. Targets include the Nicobar Serpent-eagle, Nicobar Imperial-pigeon, Nicobar Megapode, Nicobar Scops-owl, Nicobar Pigeon, Nicobar Parakeet, and Nicobar Jungle-flycatcher. Also look for the Pied Imperial-pigeon, Hooded Pitta, and specific Nicobar races of the Asian Glossy Starling, Asian Koel, and White-collared Kingfisher.

Day 9: Ship to Port Blair

Board the return ship to Port Blair.

Day 10: Port Blair Arrival

Reach Port Blair by late evening. Overnight at the hotel with optional night birding in Chidiya Tapu.

Day 11: Sholbay Forest

Morning drive to Sholbay Forest (Mangrove area). Good chances for the Ruddy Kingfisher and other endemic species. The afternoon is reserved for any endemics missed earlier in the trip.

Day 12: Ferrargunj & Chidiya Tapu

Morning visit to Ferrargunj for leftover species. Evening and night birding in Chidiya Tapu to finalize your checklist.

Day 13: Departure

Final morning birding around the hotel before transferring to the airport for your flight.
